“Am I now trying to gain the approval of people or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
- Galatians 1:10 ERV
It’s easy to get caught up in thinking about the approval of others. If you’re someone with a big heart you might even consider yourself to be a people pleaser. While you have so much on your plate, you want to make sure you’re making everyone else happy as well. There is only one person who stretched His arms out and died for you and the last thing He wants for you is to be overwhelmed. He didn’t create you to meet everyone’s needs, solve everyone’s problems, or look for their approval in your life. It’s not bad to hope others are fond of you but don’t get so indulged in trying to please people who are just as imperfect as you, that you lose sight of the One who knows your purpose.
Prayer Guide: Lord I ask that You help me stay focused on remembering Whose opinion matters most, and that’s Yours. I know that it is not important what others think of me as long as You approve. God I don’t want to get wrapped in this cycle of people pleasing because I know You created me for more than that. I ask that you allow me to recognize when I lose sight of the greater things You created me for. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
