“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for me, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
-Colossians 3:23-24 NKJV
It’s almost a universal experience that everyone has worked for someone they weren’t the biggest fans of. Whether it be the company itself or just a boss you don’t get along with. This makes going to work everyday feel like a troublesome task. It may not even be work that gets on your nerves. You may be associated with people who are never satisfied with what you do. You do your best and yet you still hear nagging and complaining to the point that you feel less than good enough. Remember this: you weren’t placed on this earth to make mankind happy. That is not your purpose nor responsibility. You are here to serve God and fulfill His plan for you. Therefore, whatever you do, even in the midst of not feeling like it, do your best for Him! Mankind may not thank you, may not make you feel appreciated, and sometimes may not even notice you put your best foot forward. Many members of mankind rejected Jesus when He walked on this earth and I’m sure it wasn’t fun for Him but it didn’t stop Him from completely His task and doing it heartily unto the Father. So the next time you have to deal with that annoying boss or associate with complainers, adjust your thinking and remember you’re a vessel of the Most High God. He’s paying attention to it all and will honor your heart!
Prayer Guide: Lord you know how much I don’t feel like doing what I’m supposed to do today but I will. Every work I will do in honor of You with my whole heart. It’s always good to know when others appreciate me but I know my worth, my purpose, and my inheritance comes from You and You alone. I am here to serve You and I will do so with all that I have. In Jesus name, Amen.
